Workin' Hard for the $$

I think it is time to name my embroidery machine.

I have a knack for naming things, like my old cars, Valerie the Volvo, Lilly the Lincoln, my sis has Haley the Honda...

With the hours she has been logging she deserves a name....

But trust me, she has been earning her keep!!

It's a Brother machine, so how does... Bernice the Brother sound....
No, too old. She is way more hip than a Bernice.

Any suggestions??

My Secret Store

The town I live in has an incredible, one of a kind "warehouse" store.

Treasures like you will see no where else!!

I actually have been going here for about a year now and people around town act like it is no big deal. BUT let me tell you, to me... well, it is HUGE!!!
.
Take this lamp for example.

Outlet price:$45.00
Candelabra's price:$340.00

And this beauty came home with me.
Outlet price: $45.00
And this one doesn't seem to be a current style. I couldn't find a price for it online.

Gorgeous mirrored chandy.
Outlet price: $275.00
Candelabra Price:$622.00

I think you get the picture. This place is just incredible.

And from the picture below you can see they have way more than just beautiful lamps and ceiling fixtures. The furniture is to die for!!

And who is the lady in the pic?? That's my bargain/adventure friend Ash. That lady is up for a day trip with a discount price just about anyday. And she is funny to boot so it makes the adventure all the more fun!!

Can't wait to head back to the store soon to buy some more goodies.

Favorite Late Fall Fashions 2011

Happy Monday!!

We are recovering from a stomach bug we got over the weekend so today is more of a "dreaming" lazy day.

Here are a few things I LOVE right now/ am on the lookout for!
Thoughts??

Long hair is so much easier to deal with.. I am really torn.

I MUST find this polish soon!!

And the perfect for everyday outfit.
I may or may not rock a scarf in 72 degree weather, don't judge... I am ready for the cool!!

And this chic look I am going to attempt to rock at 30 weeks pregnant.

If I look like a cow, please be unlike the other unfortunate people I have encountered lately.
Tangent...
I had a man at the donut shop shout in front of 20 customers, "Wow look who got fat?" WTHeck??

I have only gained 13 pounds thank you very much and my child weighs almost 4 so maybe you should keep your mouth shut before a pregnant lady shoves her warm glazed donut in your face!! People.... so rude these days!!!
Okay, so back to cute chic look, and old man, Fah get ahbout it!!

And now that my hair is the longest it has been since my husband and I met in December 2006 I am now wanting to chop it to look like this!

The truth about diy...

You know sometimes you just gotta keep it real...

And today I want to show some of my incomplete projects.

You know when the idea sounds great in your head??

And never seems to get finished or pan out the way you had envisioned??
Well this would be that project.
sidenote: please dont judge the fabric on these seat cushions... The chairs are being replaced... eventually.

You see, with this table, what had happened was...(said in the voice of the ladies man) anyone??
The glaze didn't take to the table like I originally planned.

Then after a few meals, my two year old had a few "spills."

hey, it happens, nothing a little windex cant fix...
Wrong!!
Sometimes scrubbing the spot will remove your glaze... especially if you don't seal because you didn't  love the outcome in the first place...
As the months pass you realize the glaze is coming off everywhere and you are going to need to do something...

I think that something is taking the plunge with some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

(insert happy dance here :) )

Shauna wrote a great post breaking down the cost differences between latex and chalk.
click on either image or link to go to post.

I must say she has me sold.

This was kinda the look I was goin for with the table anyway...

Now, to decide on a paint color and find the time to paint.... hmmm
Thanks for letting me bare one of my "secrets" I often don't share on the blog...

This design is for a very dear friend. She recently moved into a super cool guest house.

We are starting literally from scratch. All the way down to painting the walls.

Here is a board we have come up with to tie in the "living" space of her mini-house.

Can't wait to show you the before's and our progress so far!!

Project Princess Fluff

We are embarking on the two week countdown so I will be sharing several more inspiration pics/ plan of action for lil bit's 3rd birthday.

I have said it at almost every age, and minus the "why" stage this is absolutely by far my favorite.

She has developed quite a personality and I am so thankful to be able to hear every sweet thing she says!

Now, onto party.
Here are a few pictures of what we are thinking
look how fun this cotton candy is??
I really liked this girl's party if you cant tell.

We have rented one of these:

If I have time I plan on ruffling our crepe paper we found.

We plan on reading one of her favorite stories at the party in a party tent like this one:

And my mom just happens to have a crown like this so this will be the table's centerpiece.

And if I have enough time we are going to borrow a friends tent and do something like this for the food.

Did I mention I now feel obligated to write pinterest a note?? It would go a little something like this,

Dear Pinterest,
You have sucked up my days and filled my head with dilussional thoughts I can create anything I desire.
You have made me believe these fairytale photos are oh so achievable.
Now lets just see if I can accomplish even 1/4 of this stuff for my little princess's 3rd birthday.
If so, my obsession may grow even stronger which scares me.
However, thank you for changing my life and enabling me to show my friends what I hope to recreate.
Love JBR

Fabric swatches:
A quilted white matelasse diamond print.
We will also be using a white denim but its the same color white as this matelasse.
this is a knubby raised fabric... I LURVE it!
And of course I had to add in my beloved stripes!!
And the last fabric is a remnant closeout.
Haven't been able to find it anywhere online so here is the iphone pic.

On monday I will share the accessories we have gathered for the space.
