Transformation Thursday

This little chair has seen lots and lots of love over the years.

My parents purchased a set of these chairs at an antique auction years ago.

I recovered this chair in our old house and then my sweet little angel found a black sharpie.
A BLACK SHARPIE on my beautiful Robert Allen fabric.
Then after the sharpie incident it just kept getting beat up. Over and over!

I just gave up at that point, young toddler C was a force to be recconed with and one I was not willing to battle the art of recovering.

Therefore, we went into waiting mode!

Fast-forward to our move here, I knew I wanted to recover but didn't know what in.

So I shopped for a while until I found this smokey cut velvet wonderfulness!!!

The upholsterer brought her back to life in no time!!

I used my white Annie Sloan, clear wax, then dark wax, then clear wax, then watered down some guilders paste and left an awesome metallic sheen to the chair. LOVE how it turned out!

I love how the dark wax and the guilders paste look layered together!

ORC: Week 2

It's week two already and we are making some slow and steady progress!
(click on image to head over to Calling it Home)

Okay... so have had a few days to plan our next move from here.

The first and most important thing was accomplished a few weeks ago when we moved in.
This nasty room was Scrubbed clean!

Next up was removing this light.

And installing this light from Pottery Barn

We chose a slightly different globe for the light for this space.

Next we updated the electrical outlet and the light switch.

Now that the room was clean I started to brain storm ideas.
Are you all aware of the amazing new fabric collection Sara Richardson is doing for Kravet?
It's pure genius!!!!

Here is my inspiration photo for the cabinets.

Our paint color is Sockeye by Sherwin Williams

The home made chalk paint had great coverage over the graining in the oak cabinets.

super digging this floral fabric.
The aforementioned fabric (panel in the background)

The diamond fabric I went ahead and purchased and reupholstered a cornice I had used in our last home.
I love how it turned out.
Now I just need to purchase the panel fabric.

Completed so far:
*replaced electrical outlet
*replaced light switch
*installed new pottery barn light
*upholstered and hung cornice
*primed and painted cabinets

What we have left to do:
*countertops
*cabinet hardware
*paneling treatment for the walls
*artwork
*accessories
*runner

Stay tuned for next week.
And come see what all the other projects progress looks like.

A Table for Six

One of the things I wanted to make sure we had before baby was more than 4 chairs around our table.

I spotted this chair at a local store a while back and have been watching it.

Doesn't match my other chairs perfectly but when I went in last weekend and they were on super clearance for $21.00 a piece I knew I could chalk paint them to match the table!!!

Can't wait to start the painting process!
