Valentine's Recap

This year we went with a really simple valentines.
Nothing better than some good ole quality time.
We obviously put our pinterest mailboxes to good use.
(ac had a blast finding some goodies in her little box)

Since a 3 yr old was dining I decided to do an elegant kid friendly set up. (i am laughing at typing that really... basically a gold charger can make you, as an adult, feel as if you are indulging in a fine meal. haha)
This was our first holiday having lil bit eat on her new plate. she was Overly excited about this.
And what pink holiday is complete without some lilly and of course a Pinkaliscious book, namely Pinkadoodles. I am just as excited as lil bit is!!
My very sweet husband did something unconventional when the baby was born. Since my favorite florist was closing on Saturday right as we were headed into the hospital he decided to sign me up for the flower of the month club with Holidays flowers. Basically you get a small bouquet of flowers every month for 12 months. He got my first bouquet yesterday and I am in love!!

And the best part is a fraction of the cost to having a monthly bouquet of fresh flowers every month!!

I can't wait!!!

Hope you all had a lovely evening with the ones you love!

A Giggle from our Gobble

Most holidays follow the same format in my parents house.
1. we set the table early. check
2. menu is planned weeks in advance. check
3. I always help do something. check

This year my "something" was providing wonderful yeast rolls.

If you have read this blog for any amount of time you know i REALLY like to save a buck.

A dear friend of mine has a yeast roll business she runs out of her home.

I decided immediately this would be my contribution to the meal.

I hyped these rolls up for at least 3 weeks.

Giggle goes as follows...

We walked in the door of my parents, said our hello's and i popped in the kitchen to place the delectable delights into the oven.

I go sit on the couch with my mom and we begin discussing a new book I am borrowing from a friend and how wonderful it sounds.

Then mom returns to the kitchen to finish prepping the meal and i transition into the den with the rest of the family.

We watch the parade, then some of the dog show then the soft smell of yeast rolls fills my nose.

Someone screams, "The ROLLS!!"

I run to the double oven, {which i misread temp} grab a mitt.

And it was too late.

My delectable delights... were well...

Delightfully overdone...

Oh well, my husband and i immediately laughed, dad got upset for a nanosecond, then he and i realized this is just another wonderful memory to add to the repertoire of giggles from thanksgivings in the past.

Like the year mom dropped the frozed turkey on her foot in Kroger's parking lot and broke her foot.

This one matches in giggle factor.

Hope each and everyone of you had a wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving.

Easter Celebrations...

Ever had that feeling that you were NEVER going to get caught up... well i am there. As usual i have bit off more than i can chew and i am paying for it. My tired is tired as my grandpa would say... Anywho wanted to give yall a glimpse of my first ever hosted holiday meal. My favorite part was decorating the table. BTW i had full intentions of getting some mother of pearl napkin rings and i just forgot to make the trip to the store to get them... typical when your brain is as full of stuff as mine is....
This flower arrangement is one of my absolute fave's. you actually use two vases, set the smaller one inside the big one, fill with whatever candy you like then fill the small with water and flowers, VOILA.... such a unique centerpiece and really helped set the tone.

Then of course you must have candles....

And easter eggs hanging from the chandelier....

And dessert is always the best part, the funny thing here is on saturday my sweet hubby didnt hear the timer go off so my not so pretty, but very very yummy homemade carrot cake looks like a volcano, but still tastes great!!!
**on a side note this is the one room in my house that just is BLAH i love my curtains and chandelier and thats about it, any suggestions as to what i can do?? i was thinking a buttercream color for the walls, maybe in stripes and the stripes being a glaze. Any of you experimented with glazing... i am tempted to try....

How I love fine china.

May I first mention as i sit here and blog that I am doing so with a baby in my lap. In my daughters first whole year of life i never held her while i played on the computer. This is the best feeling having a bundle of joy lay in your arms, sleep peacefully, and keep you warm as you open your heart to blogland.

Okay so back to the reason for the post. When i was registering for things one of my favorite stores i went to was Jude Gifts. The sweet ladies there helped me pick out this place setting. They even reaffirmed me in mixing and matching companies and pieces, Thus Lenox and Pickard fell in love.

Found this excerpt from Pickard's website.

{Experts and connoisseurs of fine porcelains agree that Pickard is America's finest china - some will add that Pickard makes the finest china available anywhere in the world. At the heart of this proud tradition of excellence are stringent quality standards that have been passed down through four generations of the Pickard family.
All Pickard china is made in the U.S.A. by the same skilled craftsmen that produce the china that serves the President aboard Air Force One. When our ambassadors entertain queens, sultans and heads of state in U.S. embassies around the globe, their tables are set with Pickard.}
What an incredible feeling knowing that i am eating off the same fine china that dignitaries around the world are eating off of. Oh china, crystal, and silver.... how i love you so.
