So excited to be back this fall and to participate in the wonderful ORC!!!
For those of you that do not know what that is, Linda from the blog Calling it home is hosts this event in April and October and has 20 design bloggers join her in revamping or renovating a space.
It give people like me a good opportunity to whip a room into shape!
As you all know I will be transforming our outdated 1979 kitchen and bringing it back to life.
A few quick things.
1. countertops stay.
we just replaced BOTH our HVAC so ughh my 12,000 countertops are keeping me cool in the summer and toasty in the winter.
2.this house is the money pit,
so it is HIGHLY possible something crazy will pop up.
this could get way fun!!!
3. I have been dying to do this since we moved in 14 months ago!!!!
Now... lets get started!!
The layout of the space is remaining so here we are.
how hilarious is it that my child is shaking her groove thing while I took this picture. HA
This is the view from the front door entering the house.
I know you are sad this is going!
(cabinets are not in the best of shape so I will begin now filling in the holes and chunking this hardware)
reminding myself of the end......
In late April I had enough of budge matte walls so we went ahead and selected our wall color. We used Farrell Calhoun paint and the color is Bayou Shade by valspar.
So here we sit!
Over the next 5 weeks we will conquer:
backsplash
paint all cabinets
add molding throughout the space
refinish the table
make cushions and drapery for the space
build a kitchen island
Create a custom vent hood
Here are a few inspiration pics I keep going back to.

You are brave to tackle such a big project, but your plan looks great! Isn't the ORC the best motivation? I look forward to following your progress!
Thanks Angela! so excited to get started!
Oh...I love the wall color! Looking forward to how this is going to turn out.
Love that the little is shaking her groove thing. Kitchens are no joke - hope the money pit does not deliver too many surprises. My pit is full of 'em at every turn. Can't wait to see it come together. BTW - adore your blog header.
Nothing I love watching more than a good old kitchen ripper. Love your inspiration shots and can't wait to see the afters!!!!
Love your inspiration board and those fabrics are gorgeous. This will be amazing when done! (I'm also doing my kitchen in the ORC so I can feel your stress leve :))
Love the inspiration pictures. Cannot wait to see the transformation. Love the wall color. Love the combo of green, white and hints of brown (countertops).
Cannot wait to see all of this come to life!!
This is going to be amazing!! Can't wait to see more. Good luck!
Hi Jenny. Welcome aboard:-) I am anxious to see what you will do with this kitchen...lots of hard work ahead. Good luck!
What a lovely kitchen space this is going to be. I cannot wait to see your progress and how it all unfolds.
I too am participating in the One Room Challenge. My challenges? I just moved to a completely new state (Texas) last week and therefore have no idea where to source things other than Wal Mart and Home Depot. :) I am currently battling strep throat and just want to lay around and eat soup as opposed to painting a 30 year old polyurethaned oak coffered ceiling that has never before seen paint. The accompanying powder room rivals the worst gas station stall ever. But a bonus is that the previous owners installed a wine glass and bottle holder on the ceiling of the bathroom. I kid you not. Come take a peek.
Love the plan and all the inspiration pics! Looking forward to seeing the progress and of course the after!
Oh my goodness, I would be crying over replacing both HVAC's at the same time. Hopefully, this bit of pretty will make you smile. It is a big plan. Maybe you can find some child labor :). My kids always wanted to help me. Now, they run from the idea. Good luck.
sounds like my house! literally. We painted our cabinets (and gave them a facelift) and added backsplash and counters, new appliances and all.... then we needed to replace all our ductwork in the ac...SO FUN! good luck!!
Kitchen renos are the best, and yours will be no exception. Excited to follow along!
I've been lusting over those herringbone tiles for months! I'm so excited to see how your kitchen transforms. It's going to be great!
This will be quite the project. A big one, but I know you can do it! Love the inspirations
Kitchen makeovers are my favorite!! Probably because mine so badly needs one. looking forward to following along these next few weeks! xoxo.
What a great space to work with. Good luck! Can't wait to follow along during the transformation :)
All of your hard work will pay off and you'll have a beautiful kitchen. I laughed out loud at your " money pit" comment. Trust me when I say that I know EXACTLY how you feel.
Wow, I just love your mood board and inspiration! Cheers for tackling a large project that will be a place the entire family will enjoy everyday! Looking forward to seeing what you do and participating in ORC with you! Good luck!
