Southern meets contemporary coastal: a big boy room

Finally....having another room in the house almost complete feels pretty good!

My biggest problem with pulling these rooms together has been narrowing down my decisions!

There is just sooo much out there to choose from and I LOVE it all!!

So lets start with some inspiration pictures and then what we came up with!

(all of these images can be found in the Big boy Room album on my pinterest boards)

this little room has had quite the identity crisis with baby moving in and out.

We are still searching for a matching antique pineapple bed, the perfect accent pillow for the beds, and the perfect fabric to recover the lampshade in.

I know these items will come in due time!!

A New Lamp

These days its the little things...
Like finally finding a new lamp I LOVE for the nursery.

I love it!!

And of course its the Threshold collection from Target.

I don't seem to make it into many other stores these days.

This is what it looks like with the rest of the changing area.

Look For Less: Clam Shell

Ever since I saw Sherry, at YHL use this clam shell as her fruit display in her kitchen I knew I needed one!
Here it is in their new kitchen!

Well I have seen quite a few of these guys popping up as the Nautical trend has seemed to really take flight!

Grandin Road $199 for the large

Ballard $129.00

Z Gallerie $59.95

I think I will stick with John and Sherry and go with Z Gallerie!

Everyone seems to be offering this item and the price range for virtually the exact same item is crazy!!

Hope to plant some orchids in here. We plan on picking on up on our trip to Atlanta in August!

A Nautical First Birthday

Garsh, it has taken me forever to get all these pics loaded in.
So sorry for the delay!
Loved these two super easy pinterest food finds.

They were quite the hit!

This is kinda a pinterest flop... he is supposed to be a pineapple alligator!
These cookies are compliments to Whimsy Cookie Company.
I winged it on these and actually grabbed them the day before the party from their cabinet! so fun!
Finally got to use my gorgeous fish serving pieces we got as a wedding gift!
Some of the guests dining!
The happy birthday boy himself!

My two sweet babies!
Sister was quite the helper in opening gifts!
He LOVED the firetruck from Aunt Ainslie!!
And he Really wasnt sure what to think of the sparkler on his cupcake!!
Happy Happy one year birthday my sweet boy!!

Planning for 5 in 1100 square feet...

Whew, ever since we discovered we were expecting my first thought is WHERE will we put everyone.

As the weeks have progressed the idea of being in a little home has grown on me and I am purging with much greater intent now.

After removing all the unnecessary we actually have a decent amount of room for everyone.

The most necessary change has been everyone moving rooms.

Sister moved upstairs, we moved to her room and brother is now in the master.

The master has been my main focus as of late seeing as that is the only room that will not require to be repainted.

This room has become nursery/playroom/ new baby's nursery.

Here is a "rough draft" of what I have envisioned.

Simple, somewhat rustic, and gender neutral as we are not finding out the sex of the baby.

The changing table, whale, white table and chairs, and rug are all currently in the room.

Everything else is a sample of the items we hope to create for this new ones room.

The bedding will be purchased this go around and will likely not be monogrammed until after baby's arrival.

Anyone have any suggestions on glider options? we moved our other one into the den and we are LOVING it in there.

Be back with pictures of the actual spaces once I can get everyone's room clean :) happy monday folks!

(ps still updating and backdating a few posts, stay tuned for those as well)
