Update in the Entry and A Plan

When we moved into our home back in July I had an awesome vision for our entry.

Here are some of the ideas I was thinking about for this space.

Still strongly considering painting the walls a cream white and doing high gloss white trim.

The banister is not just exceedingly sturdy so we have contimplated ripping it all out and installing more of a modern railing.

Our layout is this exactly in the two rooms shown.

I like both of these styles therefore I am torn.

We are planning to rip up the carpet on the stairs, install wooden stained treads and install a carpet runner.

The likelihood we get to this before next fall is pretty slim.
We have hit some major obstacles in this home and soooo many things were missed on the inspection report/discovered once we moved in that we will be fixing alot of behind the scenes things first.
BUT..... one thing we CAN do in the meantime is update some lighting.

I fell in love with this fixture back in the spring.

We saw duplicates at places like Home Depot and Lowe's but I knew this was the one the space needed.
The entry is so small and needed some charm.

We found it for a steal of a deal at the local Pottery Barn Outlet!

And just in the few weeks it has been hanging we have gotten quite a few compliments on it!
The shadows it casts are Soo pretty!!

So glad I held out for the one I was really wanting!

Hall Lighting: What We Chose!

Thank you all so much for weighing in on Instagram and telling me which light you like!!

#3 was the unanimous favorite!
This light has pushed me WAY out of my comfort zone but I am warming up to it.

I think once artwork and wall color are up I will like it a lot more!

It has definately brightened up the space!

I dread this whole scraping the ceiling mess...

Happy tuesday friends

Need your Input

I am doing my best to push myself out of my über traditional comfort zone in small ways.
One being lighting in the new house.
In the picture #1 is the trendy ooh I want, 2 is the transitional "fun" light but I am thinking about stretching myself to #3.

Please weigh in. I want to get at least one installed by the weekend to see if I like it!

Home Depot is not endorsing this post but I would love if they would! 😜

Bathroom Lighting

As I mentioned in a previous post one of our first goals for the house is lighting.

For the downstairs bathroom and the master bath we decided to go with this light from pottery barn.

Once I get fully unpacked from our trip I will take a before and after for yall so you can see!!

Hopefully tomorrow!

I swear.. with as much as I am into at pottery barn right now they should be paying me for these wonderful shameless plugs!!! haha

Kitchen Table Lighting

Before we purchased our new home we knew we wanted to set some goals for when things would be completed.

The ONLY updated fixtures in the whole home were a blue fluorescent blade fan In the babies room and a halfway installed fan in the master!

So...obviously updating lighting was first on the list.

The day after closing I ran in a neat outlet store and chances upon this.
The original plan was to order the lantern from Ballard for over the table.

This one...

Then I found this.

Upon a quick google search I discovered this was a slamming deal!!!

It was a nice heavy fixture and I knew it would look great over our new kitchen table!!
and at $69.99 I knew I was saving a few bones :)

We were able to hang it about the second week we moved in and we love it!

This is one of the first things you see when walking in the front door and I feel like it really sets the tone for the whole house!

Next up lighting over the sink and in the back door hallway.

Once we complete lighting I hope to share the style boards for each room and mix in some kids posts here and there.

Strap in... going to be LOTS of newness this fall...

I have done a people choose on my instagram account with a thing here and there and I like having people's opinion!! Really!! i do!! I can usually narrow down to a few favorites then it takes me weeks to finally commit to something.
