Modern Eclectic Nursery Redesign- client

Let me start off by saying I absolutely ADORE this girl!!
We had a blast making this room more functional for her precious 11 month old.

A room she can transition from baby into the toddler years very easily!
We used alot of what they already had and just made the room make more sense for the current stage of life they are in.

adoreable alphabet letters with a collection of poms for baby girl to look at.

I shared a pinterest tutorial with the mommy and she and her husband whipped up this adoreable tent for their daughter to play in.

Did I mention the mom is an artist??

She did this incredible painting and I thought it would be so fun and playful in the space!!

Is this little red chair not the cutest thing in the whole world??

We used two placemats and put them together for the perfect chair size pillow!

I adore this 3sprouts organic line.
Such cute and functional storage for kids rooms!!
(you can find it really cheap on amazon!)

A Traditional Kitchen Facelift- client, well sort of.

First of all, this is the "client"
I have for the last 26 years of my life called them mom and dad.

This is how their kitchen has looked since they moved in their home almost 17 years ago.
(well slightly, if you can see from the stain on the ceiling there was a massive flourescent up there until right before I took this picture.
And the space above the cabinets was recently restyled)

The 90's were all about white, white is nice but slowly, one at a time they have replaced the appliances. All that was left to replace was the electric cooktop and double wall oven.
you get the idea.

So after many magazines bought, lots of kitchens examined I encouraged them to replace their countertops, faux the cabinets and get a more natural stone backsplash.

Here we are right after the new granite countertops went in. I told them to pick something not too dark so they will like it for many years to come. It fits their very warm toned home and flows well with the adjoining rooms.

Here is an upclose.

We had the old backsplash professionally removed and backer board installed.
I encouraged them to go with either soapstone or travertine subway tiles for a more modern look in a traditional pallet.

When I took these the countertops had just been installed and we were in the process of repairing a few cabinets before doing one of the cabinet transformations in a box.

We added a stipple brush to give a more custom painted look.
(these pics were taken with my phone yesterday afternoon)

We are having a wedding shower over there this weekend. hope to get some good shots of the kitchen then.

Traditional Meets Modern-client

We have made quite a few strides in a clients dining room.

She already owned the furniture and had already decided on a high gloss navy wall color.
The color was an Awesome launching point!!

Here is where we are so far.
1. New lighting was key to update the look of this room
2. We "wallpapered" the back of the china cabinet to make the traditional china pop!
3.A modern interpretation of a plate gallery wall. When paired with a traditional gold mirror its a striking contrast
4. A mod cut velvet fabric was used on the seat cushion to incorporate the turqouise color
5. And most importantly a modern print drape.

Here is a look at the other side of the room

What's left?
1. accessorizing above the china cabinet
2. Styling the table and sideboard
3. a rug

And we can call this room done.

Den Design Board-client

Do you remember the post on the completely bare den?

Well here is one of the sample boards I shared with the couple.

It is crazy how you think you are going one direction and you end up going the complete opposite!

I go this weekend to do the final install of all the accessories.

Vesta Home Show 2

This was the second home at the show..., this home won best in show and by far was my favorite....

This bathroom was to die for!!

This bedding was very formal but elegant, and the otherside of the room looked like this.

Don't you just love it?

t
This is the third house...
I didn't love the outside of it but the inside.... oh dear heavens, I felt like I was literally walking the pages of a magazine.
This home had exquisite furnishings. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. (sorry i wasnt able to get more upclose... baby was very busy that day.)

This is the room in the carriage house over the garage (detached from home)

This home reminded me so much of New Orleans

The baseboards of this kitchen had the coolest feature.
You did a gentle touch with the shoe and the baseboards were hidden drawers under the kitchen cabinets to hide cash, passports, and jewelry. Genius idea!!!

Hope all of you enjoyed looking at these beautiful homes as much as i did. Now i am full of ideas and bursting at the seems to implement them!!

This past week has been pretty hectic.
  • I finished the nursery bedding i was working on,
  • finished the other set of panels for ACs room. (yes the fabric did retire and it took me forever to find more... but hey its the risk you run...)
  • cleaned out the garage
  • organized more clothing
  • cleaned out/super detailed my car
  • cleaned off all the walls where little bit decided to use an expo marker and create her own art....
JOY!!
Hope you all have a wonderful fourth of July!

Dining room from the stairwell looking into living space and then courtyard.

The designer for this home is Amy Howard.

Prim and Proper

I have been meaning to share this room for quite some time and am just now getting around to it.

You see this room, it is my mom's absolute favorite in her home.

This is where she likes to curl up and take her afternoon nap, its the frilly, "do not touch" room.

I am not kidding you when i tell you we were only able to step foot in there within the past 5 years.

Mom LOVES, loves, LOVES pink and green, so DUH on the color scheme when she orchestrated this room.
This chair makes me swoon!!
Wish I could say this was a thrifty find, but mommy was a good girl and saved all her allowance to purchase her!!

Some of my other favorites in the room are mom's Herend collection, and my nannie's china and crystal.

Here is my nannie, sometime before her wedding to my pawpaw in the 40's.
Love it!!
Snuck a pic of mama reading some of her fancy schmancy, practical living room literature  after conversing with me by the pool for a few minutes....
she will kill me for uploading this. hehe. sorry had to.

Hope you are all having a wonderful tuesday!!
